Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in West Bengal on Saturday for a two-day visit packed with development, cultural and defence-related engagements across the state.
After concluding his visit to Odisha, the Prime Minister landed in Hooghly district and is scheduled to attend the state-level Paschimbanga Divas celebrations at Tarakeswar. During the event, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several projects related to railways, agriculture, fisheries, rural development and infrastructure.
The Prime Minister is also set to release the 23rd instalment of the PM-Kisan scheme, providing financial assistance to eligible farmers across the country. The initiatives are aimed at boosting development and strengthening welfare programmes in the region.
Modi will stay overnight in Kolkata before leading the International Day of Yoga celebrations at Red Road on Sunday morning. The annual event is expected to witness large-scale participation from yoga enthusiasts and dignitaries.
Later on Sunday, the Prime Minister will commission three indigenously designed and built naval ships constructed by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers in Kolkata. The commissioning is expected to further strengthen India’s indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities and maritime security.

The visit underscores the Centre’s focus on infrastructure development, farmer welfare, cultural engagement and defence self-reliance.
