A woman tourist was killed in a tragic accident at the Dubare Elephant Camp in Karnataka’s Kodagu district after she got caught during a clash between two elephants.

The incident occurred during a routine elephant bathing session near the Cauvery River, where visitors were watching the trained elephants. Suddenly, two elephants engaged in a fight, leading to panic among tourists at the spot.

According to reports, one of the elephants lost balance during the clash and fell, trapping the woman underneath. Despite immediate efforts by mahouts and staff to control the animals and rescue her, she could not be saved and died on the spot.

The victim, identified as a 33-year-old tourist from Chennai, was visiting the popular wildlife camp when the accident occurred. Officials said the elephants involved were trained, but the unexpected aggression led to the fatal mishap.

Forest department officials have ordered an investigation into the incident and are expected to review safety protocols at the camp to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

The Dubare Elephant Camp, located on the banks of the River Kaveri, is a major tourist attraction in Kodagu, known for elephant interactions and bathing experiences, but the incident has now raised serious concerns over visitor safety.
