Toronto police are investigating the killing of 30 year old Indian national Himanshi Khurana, whose death has been classified as a homicide, as authorities search for a suspect believed to have been known to the victim. Police have identified 32 year old Abdul Ghafoori of Toronto as a person wanted in connection with the case and say the investigation remains active.
Speaking to CP24, a Toronto Police spokesperson said the suspect and victim were in an intimate partner relationship and emphasized that investigators are seeking public assistance. Police have released an image of the suspect and are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact authorities immediately. Khurana was a resident of Toronto and had been active on social media, where she described herself as a digital creator. Police have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding her death as the investigation continues.
The Indian Consulate in Toronto expressed shock and grief following the news of Khurana’s murder. In a statement posted on X, the Consulate said it was deeply saddened by the killing and extended condolences to her family.
