Tensions escalated in Kolkata today as workers of the All India Trinamool Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party allegedly clashed during a protest rally linked to the Baruipur rape and murder case.

The protest was organised over the alleged rape and murder of a minor girl in Baruipur, with political parties trading accusations over the handling of the case. The rally was held after the Calcutta High Court permitted the demonstration with certain route restrictions.

Reports said clashes broke out between supporters of both parties during the protest, leading to heightened tension in the area. Police personnel were deployed to maintain law and order as the situation unfolded.

The incident has intensified the political confrontation between the TMC and BJP in West Bengal, with both sides blaming each other for disrupting the protest.

The Baruipur case has triggered widespread public and political reactions in the state, with protests and demands for strict action against those responsible.
