Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Mhatre has been arrested in connection with the alleged assault on doctors and medical staff at a civic-run hospital in Thane district’s Dombivli area.
The action came after a case was registered against Mhatre and others for allegedly attacking doctors at a Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation hospital. The incident reportedly took place following a dispute involving the treatment of a patient’s family member.
Police had earlier arrested three other accused linked to the assault, while Mhatre was named in the FIR. The incident triggered protests from the medical community, with healthcare workers demanding strict action and safety measures for doctors and hospital staff.
The alleged assault, which was captured on CCTV, showed violence involving hospital staff, leading to widespread outrage. Authorities have launched further investigation into the matter.
