FIFA has introduced three new mascots for the 2026 World Cup, each designed to embody the culture and spirit of the host nations. Canada will be represented by Maple the Moose, while Mexico welcomes Zayu the Jaguar and the United States takes flight with Clutch the Bald Eagle.

Announced Thursday, the trio is meant to symbolize unity, diversity, and the global excitement surrounding the expanded 48-team tournament, which runs from June 11 to July 19, 2026, across 16 host cities including Toronto and Vancouver. FIFA president Gianni Infantino said Maple, Zayu, and Clutch bring “joy, energy and the spirit of togetherness, just like the World Cup itself.”

Maple the Moose has been described as a spirited traveler who roams across Canada’s provinces and territories, connecting with people through art, music, and sport. Styled as a street-smart goalkeeper, Maple embodies creativity, resilience, and leadership, complete with a flair for making “legendary saves.”

Zayu the Jaguar is rooted in Mexico’s southern jungles and reflects the country’s rich cultural heritage. On the field, Zayu is envisioned as a fierce striker, known for agility and ingenuity. Off the pitch, the character celebrates Mexican culture through food, dance, and tradition, serving as a unifier across borders.

Clutch the Bald Eagle represents the United States with boundless curiosity and optimism. Portrayed as a midfielder, Clutch is a traveler and adventurer who brings people together by embracing the diversity of American culture. Beyond the stadium, all three mascots will feature in FIFA Heroes, a new arcade-style video game launching next year.
