Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) recently celebrated ‘Phoolon Ki Holi’ at its Dwarka campus, bringing together faculty and staff in an event that mirrored the spirit of togetherness and positivity within the academic community.
Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Professor (Dr) Mahesh Verma emphasised that festivals within university settings play a crucial role in nurturing shared values. He remarked that such occasions serve as a poignant reminder of the timeless Indian philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” — the belief that the world is one family.
“Encouraging students to understand the cultural and social significance of our traditions can significantly enrich their educational experience,” Professor Verma stated.
Reflecting on the deeper meaning of the festival, the Vice Chancellor shared that for him, Holi transcends the traditional celebration of colours. “It is a reminder of our responsibility and shared humanity,” he noted.
Highlighting a personal initiative undertaken during the festivities, Professor Verma shared the privilege of distributing educational kits to young children. Expressing the joy of witnessing their enthusiasm, he added, “Celebrations become truly significant when they create opportunities. If even one child walks into a classroom with greater confidence because of this small effort, the purpose stands fulfilled.
“The event underscored the university’s commitment to fostering a holistic environment where cultural traditions and social responsibility go hand in hand with academic excellence.
